What is GoAnywhere MFT?

Managed File Transfer solution protect data in motion using various transfer protocols such as HTTPS, SFTP, AS2, FTPS, PeSIT, etc.

GoAnywhere MFT is a file transfer solution that simplifies the exchange of data between your systems, employees, customers and business partners. Deployable on-premises, in cloud and hybrid environments, it provides a single point of control with extensive security settings, detailed audit logs and reporting.

AGENTS GOANYWHERE

Managed File Transfer Agents support a wide range of features to help you meet your organization’s key IT initiatives:

  • Automate and secure file transfers in a centralized environment,
  • Monitor files on agent systems for new or altered files,
  • Schedule agent file transfers to run at future dates and times,
  • Provide additional workflow features such as compression, decompression, data analysis, database integration, PGP encryption and decryption, SFTP and SCP file transfers and native command execution,
  • Send email or SMS alerts when agent file transfers fail,
  • Transmit audit data to MFT solution for centralized reporting,
  • and more.

GoAnywhere MFT Agents can be installed on servers or workstations in your network to transfer files to and from GoAnywhere MFT and other systems for processing. Agents can perform workflows on the system where the agent is deployed, such as copying files, executing commands, or analyzing data.

Agents can be installed at remote locations to automatically monitor files and transfer files on an automated basis. This retail polling feature is ideal for synchronising files between the corporate data centre and remote locations such as shops or branches.

They can be installed on servers owned by your business partners. When a trading partner places a file in a folder that is monitored by the Agent, GoAnywhere MFT can automatically pull the file to your company/organisation's network. In turn, GoAnywhere can use these Agent connections to push files to your trading partners.

MFT Agents can be installed on server instances in cloud infrastructure such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure. These agents can be used to move files securely between the cloud and your internal network.

GoAnywhere MFT Gateway

MFT solution can be scaled horizontally by adding additional systems to the cluster. When combined with a load balancer such as GoAnywhere Gateway, every incoming connection to the file servers can be distributed to the systems available to serve your employees and business partners.

For file transfers in workflows (projects), clustering allows the workload to be distributed across all systems to increase performance and throughput. As your business and transfer needs grow, MFT can easily scale with additional systems.

HIGH AVAILABILITY GOANYWHERE

The active-active support inherent in GoAnywhere MFT clustering will provide maximum high availability for your critical environment. If one GoAnywhere MFT system were to fail (for example, due to network or hardware failure), the other systems in the cluster would continue to process file transfers and execute workflows. This can help your organization reduce downtime, meet service level agreements (SLAs) and improve user satisfaction.

MFT reporting

GoAnywhere MFT can analyze over 60 different security parameters to determine compliance with applicable security standards. If a security setting does not meet the standard, the report will indicate the corresponding PCI DSS section and recommendation on how to correct the security setting.

MFT’s detailed audit logs provide:

  • filtered and detailed results,
  • export of multi-application analyses,
  • automatic report scheduling,
  • centralized error reporting (sent to SYSLOG),
  • and more.

PeSIT server connections can be defined as reusable resources via the administration interface and then easily accessed from a simple drop-down menu. PeSIT tasks can be placed in GoAnywhere MFT projects and run as part of a larger process (workflow). For example, a project can be defined to extract records from a database, convert the records to a CSV file, and then place the CSV file on a PeSIT server.

At low speeds, for example anything up to 5 Mbps (Cable/DSL) with normal latency (80ms and below for transfers within one country), FTP provides nearly maximum speed. On the other hand, there are also scenarios that improve dramatically when file transfer acceleration is introduced, expediting transfers that once took days into just minutes.

File transfer acceleration delivers the greatest results in situations where there has been a higher than average investment in line speed, files are exchanged over large geographic distances, or when connections which are prone to packet loss are used.
